Makuhari International School is a unique dual-language school (English and Japanese) delivering programmes for K1-G6 (Nursery to Year 7). Situated just 30 minutes by train from the centre of Tokyo, the award-winning MIS camp us enjoys outstanding facilities and excellent resources. The curriculum model, based on the Japanese National Curriculum, but modified where appropriate and taught via international teaching and learning methods, allows children to transfer to local junior high schools as well as other international schools. MIS opened its doors in 2009 and currently has 385 children on roll. MIS achieved fully accredited status with CIS in April 2017.
STEAM Teacher
An opportunity exists to join a team of dedicated professionals. MIS is seeking candidates who are committed and enthusiastic, with at least two years’ recent experience and possess QTS or a teacher license issued by a government educational agency for the 6-12 age-range and able to bring a range of teaching methodologies and differentiation consistent with current best practice. The STEAM Teacher plays a pivotal role in empowering students with essential skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), and particularly in guiding them through the realm of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This position aims to inspire students to become innovative, critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners by integrating hands-on experiences and interdisciplinary approaches into their educational journey. The STEAM Teacher is dedicated to nurturing curiosity, creativity, and a deep understanding of ICT concepts, equipping MIS students with the tools they need to excel in a rapidly evolving technological world.

Substitute Teacher
MIS is looking for teachers living in the Tokyo/Chiba area who are available on an on-call basis to cover our normal kindergarten and elementary class teachers on select days.
Remuneration is excellent and you would be a part of a supportive and positive team.
Prerequisites to Apply:
- Multiple-Subject Elementary Teacher Certification required.
- Experience in serving as a Multiple-Subject Elementary Classroom Teacher is required.
- Appropriate visa needed.
