Welcome Message

Welcome to the Makuhari International School website. MIS was established in 2009 with the aim of providing an international education for returnee Japanese families and expatriates alike. The dual-language curriculum, using the Japanese National Curriculum as a framework makes MIS a perfect choice for families who would like their children to become bilingual and truly internationally minded. Japanese language, literature and culture are safeguarded by the teaching of key subjects in Japanese whilst also offering Japanese language and culture courses to non-native speakers.

 Michael Deveney

 Head of School

The award-winning MIS campus, both in design and fittings, offers an outstanding environment for children to engage with their learning. All of the MIS staff are qualified teachers, specialized in their field and dedicated to delivering our unique curriculum whilst challenging children to become independent and confident learners.

When touring the school, the striking characteristic of the classrooms is one of purposeful endeavour, with children very much at the centre of the learning activities. Our children's natural curiosity combined with their abundant enthusiasm makes for an air of excitement and lessons that are both focused and fun at the same time.

We are always happy to welcome visitors and pleased to offer a personal tour. Please contact the school office for an appointment, we are confident that you won't be disappointed!
